Research: Conventional thriller openings - Mrs. Quinlan

Why are filming openings important?
Filming openings are important as they play a big role helping the audience on what is going on in the movie and onward as if they don’t start from the start they won’t understand what is happening in the film. The audience will understand what is then going to happen throughout the film, as they show the techniques like iconography, especially setting and costume. Those knowing what the setting is, will mean them knowing what type of genre it is, and how everything will be going on in the rest of the film. As I have said costume this will help us show the audience on who the protagonist is and who is the antagonist. The purpose of filming opening is so they could give the audience of an idea of what is going to happen, and who the characters what they are like some some information so they could understand the film that they are going to be watching.

An example as an opening scene would be the Se7en: in the opening scene for the movie Se7en we see a close up, as it was used to show the protagonist or the antagonist close up for the audience so they could get a bit of knowledge on as they are watching the film to understand it in much more detail. A different example will be, Black Swan: in the opening scene for the Black Swan we see the lighting low-key, as only a light is pointing to the protagonist or the antagonist. As then we see a long shot were we could see the female from head to toe as she is dancing. This helps the audience by knowing the characters one by one. As an antagonist comes in, which we know this from the costume because as we know every character has their own costume and by that we can chose who is a protagonist and who the antagonist is, which as we watch we see that is was a dream and then the opening scene finishes.

low- key in a thriller film most of the opening scene will be using low key

Conclusion:

As I have looked at the different types of openings, as these will be helping me for example seeing what is going to happen to you before as a dream, which would affect the audience as they would know an information on what is going to happen in the film.there are a lot of things around the audience as there are a lo0t of thing, as we see that there are people on scene that has helped me to develop
