There is a company, which is responsible
for the age rating and securing on what the age are for certain films.
The BBFC are very successful as they are a
big role in the film industry without them not even one film would be aloud to
put on to cinemas. This is mostly the best choice that has been done for the
young children, as they wont be aloud to watch a film that are for ages 18 and
above. They help to protect the young kids as they need help on what kind of
films they are able to watch incase they watch a film, which would cause a
dangerous effect on them.
U: This means universal, which everyone can
be able to watch because it is suitable and it has nothing wrong that has been
shown in the film that has been produced. This will not be in the horror violence
threat category as it is not suitable for some age groups.
PG: Is for everyone with a parental
guidance which means they will need to be with a parent and career this is only
for the young children as there parents may not think there are suitable stuff
for there age. This is for ages 8 and lower because it may upset the child if
they are sensitive.
12: This is for the age 12 and above so any
other younger children’s wont be able to watch it because it isn’t appropriate
even though they are with there parents . These films may contain variety of
materials which wont be suitable for there age and can be upsetting.
12A: this are for children 12 and above if
ages that are lower than 12 would like to enter in to watch the film they will
need an adult because it isn’t suitable, but if there parent or career thinks
that they can for the effects that will be happening no one would be
responsible except from the parent or career.
15: This age cert is for 15 and over, which
mean that there are themes that violence would be show in this there would be
inappropriate themes that ages under 15 may not be able to watch as it maybe
effective for the age under 15 they might be scared which can effect them in a
bad way but this is there responsibility as they had clearly said it was for 15
and over so they believe it is suitable for them.

There is minimal understanding of age certificates and the way in which films are classified. There are minimal film examples used.
ReplyDelete- Consider in more detail what the role of the BBFC is and what their role is for adults and parents.
- For each age certificate, specifically state the types of themes that would be/won't be present in the category and why. Link each certification with a film example and explain why this film is suitable for this classification.
- Include a section in which you discuss the creation of the 12A rating (link to Spiderman and comic/superhero films in general).
- Include a section on thriller ratings and provide film examples.
- Discuss what rating you would give your thriller opening and what that means you can/cannot include.
- In your conclusion, discuss why it is important to understand age certificates and what you will need to consider when making your own thriller opening.
