Planning: Preliminary task - Miss Begum

The purpose of preliminary task:
The purpose of the preliminary task is how to film and edit as we need to know this. Also how to use a camera.

The scenario
So in the first part there is a panning shot. Me and Trang are the only charcters that are playing in the scene. We are talking about a general thing that happens all the time. Trang will be walking towards me as i will stop her while she is waling to ask her "Trang Trang have you done the Politics homework?"

In the next scene there is a over shoulder, which also a medium shot is give when looking at the Trang. As she reply's in a panic "Ow my god what homework, I didn't do it"

A straight cut is seen in this part when i'm showing what homework we had got as i reply back to her saying, "the one Miss Hamilton gave, these questions"

In this park there is a high angle seen where the characters are seen tall. Trangs face expressions are shown as she was in panic even if  she didn't speak we would see it from her movement and the emotions she gives which the camera has catched in detail. As she reply's back "Ow my god i didn't do it shes going to kill me."

In the next part she starts going through her book to see if she has the questions or if she has done it in a panic. Their is a extreme close  zoomed in to the book which she it going through in a rush. As she says "i cant find the questions where are they?" with a rhetorical question she has asked her self.

Theirs a over shoulder showing the other this is the third time you have done this you need to fix up
iknow i know im going to go do it now
you better

Group roles:
  • Me and Trang was the actors
  • Dillan was the camera man
  • Dialogue was me and Trang
  • There was no need for costume and makeup, as we had acted in our own role so we didn't change into a different character it was just that we had to make a scene at that moment so we spoke about something that usually happens.
We have changed the group roles as we have seen what who can do what in the roles.
  • Dillan will be the director.
  • Trang and i will be the producer.
  • Camera operator will be Dillan.
  • Sound will be controlled by Trang.
  • Dillan will be editing.
  • Storyboard organizer is Trang.
  • Location manager will be me.
  • Costume hair and makeup will be me.
  • Lighting operator will be Trang.
Difficulties:
The difficulties we had was that the dialogue was completed in a short period so we wasn't able to find what we could talk about so we had to make it in the spot. Keeping the camera still was hard even though Dillan had his hand still the camera would still move even a tiny bit. Use of camera was hard because not everyone in the group knew how to use it as the only person was Dillan so we had to leave the camera use to him.

Learned:
We have learnt how to use a camera
We have learnt how to insert an SD card and how to take it out
We have learnt that the camera will never stay still in hand and that we will need a tripod to keep it still.

Beneficial:
This task is beneficial as we now know how to use a camera and that it is very hard to use because with touching a part which we don't know can damage the camera, this will help us now while we take our opening scene. Knowing how to edit will now help us when we edit our opening scene. Now i know how to not only edit also how to film.

1 comment:

  1. Proficient work here. The preliminary task has clearly helped you operate a camera and identify the basic skills of filming and editing. Clear to see that you have worked well within your group in your first attempt and have shared tasks and responsibilities.

    To improve;
-discuss the purpose of the task more. Think about initial roles, technical abilities and continuity editing etc.
-any difficulties with final cut pro?
-what did you learn from using final cut pro?
-was this task beneficial in terms of allowing you to work and bond as a group?
