Evaluation:
question 5) how did you attract/address your target audience?
The
importance of doing secondary research in to existing films
Carrying out secondary research is very
important when creating a film production as it makes the person gain some knowledge
about the theme characters and etc. This will help the person to make the right
decisions on what kind of character roles the lighting sound theme and etc. To
pick and create to have a good production. This will be so we could get the
audience’s attention on our production and what kind of response we could get
from them so next time if we do this again we would be able to not make the
same mistakes in the other one as well.
The
target audience of thriller films and our chosen target audience?
After collecting secondary information we
have found out that the most common target audience for thriller are young
adults which are from both genders. There are various types of different ethnic
groups as they are still in education or employed. The reason why the age group
for thriller films is not above the age 25 is because they don’t think creative
as they know what is what after an age, adults don’t find the scenarios very
interesting and believable, but young adults they are at an age where they find
out what tension and excitement is they find it much interesting. The target
audience of our chosen one are very interested in watching films with the
social group they hang around with as they like spending time with their
friends and a lot of the time they all go to the cinemas as they know that even
though the production of the film isn’t good they would have a fun time with
their friends, which makes the movie much more interesting because they would
all have their own opinion about the film after it ends so this would be there
hobbies and interest at the same time.
I believe that from thriller films the
target audience enjoy element suspense, and etc. This is because the target
audiences are young adults and they are creative they find it interesting in
their own ways. Further to this, the emotions I believe the audiences are
likely to experience are psychological as they won’t be able to show their
emotions out as they won’t want the people that she/he has went with to know
that they had got scared or however they feel like. This was a good research as
it meant that for my thriller I had to consider what kind of physical and
psychological reactions I would want to create to a limit.
From
my research into thriller, I believe that the target audience that they appeal
to consist of the following:
Age: 15-25
Gender:
Unisex
Ethnicity: No general
Occupation: (High education) students mainly
Hobbies
and interests: sports and reading books
Addressing my target audience:
I have carried out a questionnaire so I could collect information on what kind of thriller my audience likes to watch and what they prefer to see as it has helped me to create my thriller with what they like and would want to see when watching it. The information they have given me has given me ideas on what I will be adding to my thriller when creating it, it was an easier way on planning my thriller as I had more time to do my other things such as my storyboard, shot-list and more. Overall I have collected information which has made me decide on what type of thriller conventions I will pick. A lot of the questions were multiple as this had helped me to make everyone answer the questionnaire because not a lot of people like written questionnaire.
Overall:
Overall, the primary research that I had done was very important as it had helped me to know what people want to see when watching a thriller movie. If I had found these information from the internet I wouldn't of made it sure if it was accurate or not but by getting these information right from them it had helped me to know what Is wanting when creating my thriller. Now with the information which is gathered up I am able to attract and address my target audience.
Focus group Audience Feedback:
After creating my first draft I was able to get feed back from A level Film and Media plus Drama students to watch my thriller and get information on what they had liked when watching my thriller and what they did not like when watching the thriller. As they were the type of target audience which I wanted to attract.
Conclusion:
Finally from the feed back I had got from my audience that I wanted as a target audience had liked my thriller but did find mistakes to get sorted out. As these had shown me what I will need to change so I could have it in a better position for people to watch it and not see the same mistakes again. As now I do know that we have a successful thriller

The first questions were simple questions which I knew the answer to they were just to make sure as they were needed, I knew that they were all young adults so I had asked questions which was appropriate.
I had asked the questions mostly as a multiple because teenagers don't like long questionnaires as they find it boring they don't answer everything. The questions I had asked were simple and understandable which made it easier and faster for them to answer.
This had helped me to have more time to work on what my final product would be like as it had made it easier for me to plan and then create it.
The questions that were asked were very creative it had made them think about the films they had watched which was thriller and had them thinking about what they would like to see in thriller and what they wouldn't want to see. Knowing the kind of characters they would like to see when watching the film had helped me to know what type of character to create when doing the hair and make-up not to forget the costume as well.Overall:

proficient understanding here on the audience and what their expectations are of thrillers. From this initial understanding, you show how you tried to appeal to you target audience by creating a questionnaire and how this helped you make decisions. Some discussion on the choices made and outcomes from this in appealing to your audience.
